Once your garden is planted up and landscaped as you wish it, there are some finishing touches and accessories that you may want to include.
Firstly, it is handy to have somewhere to sit within your garden to enable you to relax and enjoy the space. You could have anything from a full set of table and chairs to a couple of of deckchairs. There are lots of materials to choose from for the furniture, from metal garden furniture, to resin weave garden furniture, gorgeous wood, or trendy plastic. You can also get beanbags that are suitable for usage outdoors which are available in striking colours and are very relaxing to sit on.
A nice finishing touch for the garden is a swing because it can be relaxing and it can be entertaining. These are available on their own frame or if you have a sturdy enough tree, they can be fixed to that. Ensure that the surface below is padded in case anybody falls off. If there’s no grass beneath the swing, consider some rubberised matting such as that found in children’s play parks. Hammocks are also great for your garden and are also available with or without a frame. They make a holiday atmosphere and can be found in playful, bright fabric to brighten up the garden.
Ornaments can finish a garden very well as well. They can be anything from the trusty old gnome to contemporary sculpture and they are available in anything from plastic to natural stone, glass or willow. Gnomes aren’t to everyone’s taste but there are so many different kinds of ornaments and art that there will be something for absolutely everyone. There are also many different prices. A mass produced plastic ornament will be less costly than a bespoke piece of art by a well-known artist, but the art and ornaments you choose reflect your character and can add a touch of fun or class to your garden.
Light can drastically alter the mood of the garden during the night time. Lights can be mains powered with special weather proof cabling, or, for the environmentally conscious, they can be solar powered, working off of rechargeable batteries that are powered from the sun. You may even use candles to create a magical ambiance. Candle lights may be placed in lanterns, in hanging glass bowls, or you can even simply get hold of old jam jars to put the candles in to protect the flame from the wind. Torch candles work on a still night but there’s nothing to shield the flame if the wind gets up. Often, garden candles are scented with citronella to repel pesky insects.
Garden accessories are the little touches that really personalise your garden and finish it off.
