Re-covering an existing cushion is very simple, but more extensive restoration projects are also within the reach of the do-yourself-er.

Sometimes an existing cushion may still provide a good foundation, but its padding may be worn or thin. To make an existing cushion more comfortable, cover it with upholstery batting or with Nu-Foam.

Upholstery batting has traditionally been wrapped tightly around the existing cushion and fastened. However, it tends to slip and should be glued in place with upholstery adhesive to provide a more secure hold.

Nu-Foam is a dense polyester batting which safely provides the benefits of foam.

I’m standing in the entrance hall of this home and off to the right is a little closet area. On the other side is another small closet. But here’s the problem. It looks wide open now without the drywall but after the drywall is hung, it will be a little tight. But it gets worse.

The wall’s not up yet but in this tiny little area, it would be a powder room. As you can see, it is already cramped even without the walls up. The small space in the back was going to be a laundry room.
